at this moment of my making, i felt that i wanted to give more insight to the influences, which inspired me to create the kind of jewellery i was busy with. i shaped, in a, both serious and playful manner, materials of mass-production as well as discarded matter and this could complicate expected meanings: something normal gaining a more complex appearance… something ordinary made strange.
the gestures i could observe in myself, but which i also discovered in my surroundings and outside the workshop, executed consciously or not, have always somehow concerned and fascinated me. for my research, i kept looking for marks and hints reflecting our manual practices, as for me they may be looked at as a “proof” of our activities, and therefore photographed those. in order to accentuate the human touch, i also processed the images by gently over painting specific areas by hand. hence, making my personal observations visible by isolating them from everyday life in a picture became a point of departure for conceiving new two- and three- dimensional works.
in collaboration with the graphic artist arnaud hanon (https://visualis.lu), the retouched photographies related to my jewellery and the pieces themselves, have found one another in a well combined representation.
